Making pictures is not just something that I like to do but rather something I must do. I need to draw and paint. I have had that need ever since I can remember, much to the annoyance of teachers – first grade on – who did their best to stop me from “doodling,” and daydreaming in class and to get me back “on track.” For me, illustration means picture books – for children but maybe also adults. I envision my drawings and little stories to be of interest to those who have an appreciation for drawings with “a bit of a twist.” My heroes in this world include Rosemary Wells, Edward Gorey and Maurice Sendak. I draw odd birds and beast, weird characters, and what I call “curiosa.” Colleagues in the business call my stuff “quirky” and “fun.”
